Mayne's Grocery, 232 S.
Jefferson St., Huntington On December 12, 1912, a
steam locomotive on the Chicago, Bluffton &
Cincinnati Railroad tracks on Riverside Drive rolled backwards,
crossing
Jefferson Street and falling into the basement of Mayne's
Grocery store.
It is thought vandals released the engine's brakes.

This is the old Schacht's
building on West Park Drive I am told that the sign
for this company, a dealer of imported horses, actually faced
the railroad behind the building. Many publications
flipped the negative when
printing a photo of this building because they thought the
signed faced the street.
